Eligibility

Who qualifies

Unit Foundation supports registered nonprofit organisations doing work for public benefit. If that describes you, the platform is free permanently, not for a trial period, and we set you up on it ourselves.

You are a registered nonprofit, and can show it

A foundation, NGO, charity, trust or association formally registered with your country's authority. In Ghana that is the Registrar-General's Department or the Department of Social Welfare; elsewhere, your national equivalent. Have the certificate and a registration number we can check ready to upload.

Your work serves the public benefit

Education, health, environment, human rights, community development, relief, arts and culture, or similar work carried out for people other than your own members.

You communicate with people you serve

You have, or want, a presence on Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp, because that is where your community, donors and volunteers already are.

All three need to be true. We would rather you read them honestly now than wait a week for a decline.

Organisations anywhere in the world. We are based in Accra and know Ghanaian registration best, but tell us which authority registered you and we will do the work of understanding it
Teams of any size, from volunteers only to more than fifty staff

Not eligible

What we cannot support

For-profit companies, including social enterprises registered as businesses
Political parties, campaigns and organisations whose main purpose is political
Organisations that discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, gender, disability, religion or sexuality
Individuals and unregistered groups, however good the work

If you are a social enterprise registered as a company, you are still welcome on Unit, on the ordinary commercial terms at ctrunit.com.

How we decide

A person reads every application

We verify your registration against the authority you name, read what your organisation does, and consider whether the platform genuinely helps that work. We reply within five working days either way, and a decline always carries a reason.

Apply

Tell us about your organisation and upload your registration certificate. It takes about ten minutes.

We review

We check your registration and read what you do. Expect to hear from us within five working days.

We set you up

Approved organisations get their workspace built, their channels connected and their team walked through it.

Approval is at the Foundation's discretion. Meeting the criteria makes you eligible to apply; it does not by itself guarantee a grant, because the programme has finite capacity to set organisations up properly.

Before you start

What to have ready

Your organisation's registered name, exactly as it appears on the certificate
Your registration number and the authority that issued it
A scan or clear photo of the certificate (PDF, JPG or PNG, up to 5MB)
Your website and social media handles, if you have them
A contact person we can reach by email and phone
