Programme terms

Unit Foundation is a nonprofit registered with the Registrar-General's Department, Ghana under number CG048220726, based in Accra, which provides communication services and platforms free of charge to registered foundations, NGOs and charities. In these terms "we" and "the Foundation" mean Unit Foundation, and "you" means the organisation applying and the person applying on its behalf.

• You must be authorised to apply on behalf of the organisation you name.
• The information you give us must be accurate and complete, and the registration certificate you upload must be genuine and current.
• Applications are made through this website. We do not accept applications for this programme through the commercial Unit signup at ctrunit.com.
• Submitting an application does not create an account, does not give you access to the platform, and does not oblige us to award a grant.

Giving us false information is grounds for us to decline an application, or to withdraw a grant already made.

A person reviews every application against the criteria published at ctrunit.org/eligibility. We aim to respond within five working days. Meeting the published criteria makes you eligible to apply; it does not guarantee a grant, because the programme has finite capacity. Decisions are made at the Foundation's discretion and are final, though you are welcome to apply again if your circumstances change.

• Access to the Unit platform at its highest feature tier, at no charge.
• Help connecting your channels, configuring the platform for your organisation, and training your team.
• Continuation of that access for as long as you remain a registered nonprofit in good standing and continue to comply with these terms. The grant does not expire on a fixed date.

A grant is a gift of access. It is not a contract for the supply of services for a fee, it carries no service-level guarantee, and it cannot be transferred, sold or assigned to another organisation.

Artificial-intelligence features carry fair-use limits so that the programme remains sustainable for every organisation in it. We will tell you what those limits are and give you reasonable notice before changing them.

• Use the platform for your organisation's own public-benefit work.
• Tell us if your organisation ceases to be registered, changes its purpose substantially, or is wound up.
• Do not resell, sublicense or share your access with another organisation.
• Comply with the Unit terms of service and with the rules of the channels you connect, including Meta's platform policies.
• Do not use the platform to publish unlawful content, to harass, or for party-political campaigning.

You may stop using the platform at any time; tell us and we will close the workspace and, on request, give you a copy of your content first.

We may withdraw a grant if the organisation ceases to be a registered nonprofit, if the application was materially inaccurate, if these terms are seriously or repeatedly breached, or if the workspace lies unused for twelve months and we cannot reach you. Except where the breach is serious, we will give you 30 days' notice and a chance to put it right, and we will give you a reasonable opportunity to export your content before access ends.

We may also close the programme itself to new applicants. If we ever have to end existing grants, we will give at least 90 days' notice and help you move your content, including to a paid Unit plan if you would rather stay.

We may name approved organisations and describe their work in Foundation materials, but only with your agreement in advance. You are never obliged to promote Unit or the Foundation as a condition of your grant.

The platform is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, the Foundation gives no warranties about it and is not liable for loss of data, revenue, donations or opportunity arising from its use or unavailability. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

We may update these terms. Where a change materially affects organisations already holding a grant, we will email them and give reasonable notice. These terms are governed by the laws of Ghana, and the courts of Ghana have exclusive jurisdiction.
