Unit Foundation does not run an online payment page. If you want to support the work, write to the team and a person will get back to you about the way that fits best.
Fund the work
Every grant we make, every training we run and every HYPE cohort we place costs money the organisations we serve do not pay. Individuals and companies who fund the work make the free part possible.
Host a HYPE intern
If your company can take a trained young person into a real team, remotely, for a set period, you give them the thing no classroom can: working life. We prepare them; you put them to work.
Volunteer your skills
Trainers, mentors, designers, writers, engineers and organisers all make the programs run. Tell us what you are good at through the volunteer form.
Partner with us
NGO networks, universities, hubs and companies that share the goal of making technology accessible can carry the programs further than we can alone.
What support actually pays for
Three things, in order of what they cost us. Setting an organisation up: an approved NGO does not get a login and a manual, it gets its workspace built and its team trained, and that is people's time. Running HYPE: the first cohort was taught by 11 facilitators, every one of them a volunteer, and a programme that leans that heavily on goodwill is one bad month away from not running. And keeping the platform access free permanently rather than for a trial year, which is the promise that makes the grant worth having.
Support in kind is not the lesser kind
The first cohort reached 14 trained and placed young people on donated hours, not on a budget. Teaching a track, mentoring one intern for the length of a programme, reviewing a design, or handing a cohort a real project to work on are all worth more to us than they cost you. The volunteer form is the fastest way in.
What we will not do with your support
We do not take payments through this website, we do not run a donation form, and nobody from the Foundation will ask you for card or mobile money details over email. Support is arranged in a conversation with a named person, and the Foundation's Secretary keeps the records of it: the people accountable for that are listed on the about page, by name and role, along with our registration number.
